Art and Science Exhibit on Maui

An important prompt in nature journaling is to “zoom in”—to take a closer look at something in nature, either by moving in close or using a magnifying lens. Teaching artist Maggie Sutrov recently brought this idea to life at Maui High School, helping students connect their marine science studies with creative self-expression. Their work came together in a beautiful art exhibit at the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary Visitor Center in Kīhei.
